Potential Solar Development in San Diego Gas & Electric Service Territory
Using Enverus Prism and FusionConnect software, this map was prepared to evaluate parcels located within San Diego and Orange counties in Southern California for the purpose of commercial solar development. Areas of Interest (AOIs) were set to restrict parcels to those located within San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) eligible utility service territory and within a 5-mile buffer of an SDG&E-owned substation.
Parcels were then represented by their Solar Capacity Factor (%), which is a data layer provided by Enverus Prism and defined as the following:
"A measure of how much sun an area has historically received, which can help determine how much electricity can be generated. Solar capacity factor varies by location, with areas of high solar radiation being more efficient for solar projects."
